Azerbaijan - Sweden: Fernando Santos's men drop into League C

Azerbaijan consigned to the third tier of nations

Azerbaijan have been relegated to League C of the UEFA Nations League after a 1-0 defeat at home to Sweden.

The result means that Azerbaijan finish bottom of Group B4, with just one point from their six matches.

It was a disappointing end to the campaign for Azerbaijan, who had been hoping to avoid relegation. However, they were outplayed by a strong Swedish side.

The visitors took the lead in the 24th minute when Emil Forsberg scored a stunning goal from outside the area.

Azerbaijan tried to find an equaliser, but they were unable to break down the Swedish defence.

A late goal from Alexander Isak sealed the win for Sweden and condemned Azerbaijan to relegation.

The result is a major blow for Azerbaijan, who will now have to play in League C next time.

However, they will be hoping to bounce back and regain their place in League B.

Sweden, meanwhile, will be pleased with their victory. They have now won four of their six matches and have finished top of Group B4.

They will now play in League A next time, where they will face some of the best teams in Europe.

The UEFA Nations League is a new competition that was launched in 2018. It is designed to replace the friendly matches that were previously played between international teams.

The competition is divided into four leagues, with the top-ranked teams playing in League A and the lowest-ranked teams playing in League D.

Teams are promoted and relegated between the leagues based on their results.

The UEFA Nations League has been a success so far, and it has helped to improve the quality of international football.
