Boxing has been a part of the Olympic Games since its inception in 1896, with the exception of 1912. The sport is contested in various weight classes, with each boxer competing in a single elimination tournament. The winner of each weight class is awarded a gold medal, while the second and third place finishers receive silver and bronze medals, respectively.
Events
At the Paris 2024 Olympics, boxing will be contested in 13 different weight classes for men and 6 for women. The weight classes for men are: flyweight, light flyweight, bantamweight, featherweight, lightweight, light welterweight, welterweight, middleweight, light heavyweight, heavyweight, super heavyweight, and cruiserweight. The weight classes for women are: flyweight, featherweight, lightweight, welterweight, middleweight, and heavyweight.
