Peacock is set to unveil "Those About to Die," an epic television series that transports viewers back to the gladiatorial arenas of ancient Rome. Directed by renowned filmmaker Roland Emmerich ("Independence Day," "The Day After Tomorrow"), the series is set to premiere on Thursday, July 18.
Starring Academy Award winner Anthony Hopkins, "Those About to Die" is based on a nonfiction account by Daniel Mannix. The series follows the lives of gladiators, the elite warriors who fought for their lives in the amusement of the Roman Empire. With stunning visuals and gripping storytelling, it explores the brutal reality of these iconic figures.
Emmerich, known for his large-scale action films, brings his signature style to "Those About to Die."
